ABOUT
Faraday Future is a global automotive and technology company, uniting the latest in sustainable transportation and connected digital ecosystems to redefine future mobility and move humanity forward.
CASE STUDY
To create a robust and flexible automotive platform that utilizes simplistic user interactions throughout the in-car experience to achieve an enjoyable and customized experience for all.
CHALLENGES
We needed to figure out not just what to build but how to build it. We needed to build trust at the Executive level and educate other departments of the process of UX/UI designs and put in place the building blocks of success not just for the product but with the team and the company as a whole.
Furthermore, to ship the highest quality software, and by extension, the highest quality car, Faraday Future (FF) had to maintain a seamless integration and co-location between:
UI and UX Design
Colors, Materials and Finish
Interior Design
Lighting and Sound Design
Exterior Design
Engineering
Brand Design
WIREFRAMES
The wireframes were focused around the Center Information Display (CID) as that was the brain of most of the controls for the car and hub of content that the driver would be interacting with.
We broke down the areas to focus:
Welcome screen – first screen when driver interacts and begins
Selection of content – e.g. music sharing
Sharing with a passenger - passenger has a Passenger Information Display (PID)

UI DESIGN
The UI designs showcased the UI Interactions and a few initial animations for the Center Information Display. The UI designs continued to evolve with different concepts and direction. These are some of the designs that were explored.

LEARNINGS
Designing for in-car is not the same as designing for a website or app. There are a lot more considerations to acknowledge including safety, immediacy, and overall simplicity.
Taking a user out of the mindset of driving without physical controls needed to be a more seamless integration with designs.
Lots of collaboration with the team in discovering ways to design for these different media devices which proved very necessary to ensure all functionalities worked correctly together.
